Google Communities In The Classroom
I joined a Google Plus Community called ADHD Teaching Strategies by Edie Brown. Browns goal is to build an "international tribe" of teachers and parents of teens and young adults with ADHD using social media and technology. She has skills in teaching, psychology, ADHD/ADD, education, and reading and math instruction. I chose to join this community because I am currently learning how to teach and facilitate children with ADHD in one of my Elementary Education courses. I am finding similarities in both my course and this community, which are giving me great resources on ways to teach and help students with ADHD succeed in the classroom.

One of the resources I came across was 27 Simple Ways To Check For Understanding. As a teacher is it hard to pinpoint a problem a student is having. They could have ADHD or even a learning disability. Knowing some easy ways to check if your students are understanding the material you are teaching them will help those students who do suffer from ADHD. Ways to help a student from regurgitating facts is to think of ways for them to show what they have learned by moving. This can include role play, sketch a drawing on the white board, draw a colorful diagram to differentiate topics and subtopics etc. Any ways for teachers to keep their ADHD students moving and being creative will really help them retain the information you are teaching them.
